In a bizarre partnership that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Uncovered

According to the authorized release, "An unusual encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and terrifying transformations echo through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine group.

The questline concentrates on "peculiar tests and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Bonus Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an exclusive katana together with multiple objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

Third Free Story Content

This update also introduces the game's third no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
